Beadwork is the art or craft of attaching beads to one another by stringing them with a sewing needle or beading needle and thread or thin wire, or sewing them to cloth. Beads come in a variety of materials, shapes and sizes. Beads are used to create jewellery or other articles of personal adornment; they are also used in wall hangings and sculpture and many other artworks.
The goal is to keep the art of beading alive, educate on their many styles and meanings, while keeping the Maa laguage from extinction.
Create slow meaningful fashion with beads in a way thats similar to traditional east African culture but with a modern look that would compliment western fashion styles.
How it started
Beading is a hobby that was picked up while traveling back and forth to Kenya on volunteer missions. Gifts received would be made from beads, but the best gift off all was learning the craft.
